SCT Bike
May 19, 2019

Just before a rainstorm began, I went for my first group bike ride with people from the Sacramento Triathlon Club. It was a total of 7 people today, and we started and ended at a restaurant in Rocklin. I'm the guy in bright orange. I don't have a team jersey yet. 63 miles of rolling hills was a good challenge for me right now. One of the riders on today's ride just completed in Ironman Santa Rosa the previous weekend. So this was an easy right for him.

Mothers Day
May 12, 2019

Mom came to visit me and we played golf and watched bike racing today, for Mother's Day. On the final hole, I smashed the ball off the tee and was forced to chip off the parking lot. Great golfing conditions.

On Thursdays Buffalo Chips running group hosts track workouts at McClatchy High School from 6-7pm. On the first Thursday of the month they have a time trails week, where everyone has the opportunity to run the 1 mile, 800 meter, 400 meter, and 2 mile. Here I am running the 1 mile.

May is Bike Month, apparently. I currently have 7 bikes in my garage :)

Campus Commons
April 24, 2019

Mom and Dad were in Sac today and we played 9 holes of golf at Sac State Campus Commons golf course, which is located between the American River and the bike trail. The course has some seriour bird poop on it, so I'm just going to take an up close pic of my new sunglasses instead.

Tomatoes
April 16, 2019

I planted tomatoes for the first time in a long time, in my side yard. There is plenty of room. I planted 4 total plants, all different varieties of tomatoes. Looking forward to a harvest.

Unbeelieveable
April 13, 2019

Out of nowhere a colony of bees appeared on the side of my house one Friday afternoon. I was lucky to find a beekeeper in the area who would remove the next for free. He used a silly little vacuum contraction, which was really just a leaf blower set on reverse. Bees gone, and saved me some money and headache.

College Corner
April 7, 2019

Finally hung up my diplomas in a corner of my bedroom, while spring cleaning. They were always tucked into a corner, on the floor. The bottom left frame is actually my PE license, not a diploma.

Lemon Pie
April 3, 2019

Decided to make a lemon merangue pie for the first time in years. And then I made another and another.

Oakland Marathon
March 24, 2019

Today I ran my first ever marathon - The 10th Annual Oakland Marathon. We had perfect conditions and I performed as good as I could have expected based on my training. My parents drove me and watched and my final time was 3:22. Afterwards we watched March Madness basketball and then went for pizza. Great way to spend a Sunday!

Swimstitute
March 17, 2019

The Swimstitute is an indoor pool in Rancho Cordova I went and checked out this morning. There were some pretty serious swimmers there, because who else would be swimming this time of year?

I haven't made a lemon pie in a long time, and decided I should after missing a potlock at work.

Bike and Trainer
March 5, 2019

Here's a bad picture of my new bike trainer, which I received for Christmas last year. And a picture of my new white road bike inside the trainer. I bought the bike on Craigstlist and its working well so far. No flat tires! And I wouldn't expect any in the trainer :) The trainer is great because I can stop whenever I want, unlike an actual bike ride, where I have to pedal home (or to my car). The trainer is also good for nights or rain - and we've had a lot of rain this winter.

Oak Ridge
February 24, 2019

I went wine tasting today down in the Lodi area. Me and a couple others went to 3 wineries and it was ok. The best winery of the three was Oak Ridge. For $10 tasting fee we got 8 or 9 samples, and they were all pretty good.

Alexa
February 23, 2019

I received an Alexa as a gift a while ago and just today opened it and started using it. I've been playing 'Question of the Day' and 'Jeorpardy', which are both daily trivia. I'll also ask Alexa for the outside temperature when deciding what to wear for running. And I've asked a few random questions like 'When does daylight savings start?'

Disneyland
February 16, 2019

I spend 2 days down in southern California for Disneyland this weekend for Disneyland. One day in each park was pretty fun. Pirates of the Caribbean shut down on me and a bunch of boats were stranded watching the same scene for 20+ minutes haha. I've started avoiding the biggest rides and went on a few rides I didn't go on when I visited last year. The MaxPass was great. It was hard to use all my fast passes fast enough on Friday. Saturday was a little busier, being the weekend and nicer weather.

Dennys
February 14, 2019

Denny's is a pretty nasty place to eat, but since they give out free food on your birthday I decided to have Denny's for dinner tonight, twice. That's enough Denny's for the next 364 days.

Escape Room
January 27, 2019

I went to my first escape room tonight. There were a total of 4 people in the room, and unfortunately we didn't escape in the allotted 60 minutes. But we were later told there's only a 25% pass rate. Very fun, and creative!

I started running more this month and began craving a salad sandwich. I have made this sandwich for years, but not its back :)

Happy New Year
January 1, 2019

I watched the fireworks display in Old Sacramento for New Years. I actually went to the 9pm show, which was geared towards kids, and was possibly more popular than the actual 12 (midnight) fireworks show.
